Western:

Men: Fedoras, Skinny ties, high waisted pleated pants

Think James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Archie comics and Elvis Presley

Women: Poodle skirts; Fitted blouses, cinched waists and flaring skirts; Capris, cat’s eye glasses. Glamorous silhouettes and fitted pencil skirts. Hats and gloves welcome

Indian:

Men: Western wear as above, Nehru Jackets, High “bandhgala” coats, suits with narrow lapels

Women: Tailored blouses with diverse necklines (boat neck, high neck) and sleeves (long sleeves, puff sleeves), simple and sheer sarees, fitted kurtas (similar to a western preference for a fitted silhouette). Finger waves in hair, braids sometimes worn folded up and ribboned.
