What is the dress code for Saturday Night?
Answer: Dress up for pictures. There is no color code this year. The banquet is set up in Silver and Blue, and will honor our alma mater as always, but you can dress in any color that you like.
What is the dress code for Friday night?
Answer: We have a whole webpage for this! Come prepared to walk the ramp; pick out a piece of music that is 50’s themed that you would like to walk to, perhaps? There will be prizes.
Is there a dress code for the rest of the conference?
Answer: Most people wear casual to business casual during the day. You can wear what you’re comfortable with. Sacramento is very warm during the day, but can get chilly at night. We have a delta breeze that comes in most evenings, and the AC in the hotel can be set too high, so pack layers.
What is the best way to get to the hotel from the airport or the train station?
Answer: Rideshare is probably best. There is no hotel shuttle.
What can I do in Sacramento if I’m here early, or staying late?
Answer: A ton of things. Ask us for recommendations for other specific things if not mentioned on the page.
Can I sing/dance/ produce a skit/ tell a tall tale?
Answer: Yes, anytime. If you’d like to perform for the entire alumni body in attendance, get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you. Only caveat: politics, religion, derogatory jokes about women or other groups are OFF THE TABLE. Please desist.
This is my first time, what do we do after the official program ends?
You might stay up all night, catching up with new friends, or ones you haven’t seen in years. There are games that are traditionally played at GOTC that a kindly super senior will introduce you to. Most people never leave the hotel. Most people talk to everyone at the conference. The hours fly by on little sleep, lots of adrenaline, dancing and good natured ribbing. (What did you do in MHU/WHA? That roughly covers it.)
